![]() Constitutional Court to review the decision to ban TikTok
Albania's journalists welcome the decision of the Constitutional Court to review in a plenary public session the request to declare unconstitutional the Council of Ministers’ Decision no. 151, dated 06.03.2025, on “Taking Temporary Measures to Avoid the Negative Impacts of the Online Platform TikTok.”
This decision to restrict access to TikTok raises serious concerns. It curtails freedom of expression, lacks a clear justification for the proportionality of the measure, and has been implemented without transparency, heightening the risk of censorship and exposing gaps in Albania’s digital policy framework. While it is legitimate to examine the impact of social media platforms, Albania remains the only country in Europe to impose a blanket ban on TikTok, setting a troubling precedent. RELATED
