![]() Sofia to host MEDIA PLAY 2025 in April
The Bulgarian capital is gearing up to host one of the region’s most dynamic and forward-looking television and content industry gatherings — MEDIA PLAY 2025, set to take place from 23 to 25 April at the InterContinental Hotel Sofia.
The three-day event promises a robust and thought-provoking agenda, bringing together key players from across Central and Eastern Europe and beyond. This year’s edition will spotlight industry trends, co-productions, content showcases, and talent development through a curated mix of panels, masterclasses, screenings, and pitching sessions. Day 1 – April 23: The opening day will start with a content market panel featuring MIPCOM, NATPE, Serial Killer, and Heart of Europe, followed by a spotlight on Gundi – the highest-grossing Bulgarian film. Co-productions will then take center stage with case studies on Operation Sabre and Mothers alongside Beta Films from Germany. The day will conclude with a special screening of Operation Sabre and a networking cocktail. Day 2 – April 24: The key sessions will include the HBO Max keynote on co-producing with streamers, a Romanian format export case study (Win Your Country!), and insights from digital creators and Ukrainian content makers. Other highlights include Soviet Jeans, a TV series pitching session, CEETV’s CEE Screenings, presenting the newest fiction productions from the region, and a Bulgarian Market Panel on industry opportunities and trends. In parallel, the PLAYGROUND program at the Library Hall will offer masterclasses on TV writing, adapting real events to fiction, and unscripted format development with Tim Crescenti, along with Creative Europe Media funding sessions and consultations. The evening will close with a networking party. Day 3 – April 25: MEDIA PLAY 2025 will wrap up with a Farewell Breakfast, concluding an event packed with inspiration, collaboration, and regional storytelling excellence.
