The American streaming service for movies and series Netflix has removed its app from the App Store and Google Play in Russia, The Moscow Times reports.

It no longer appears when entering the name of a service in the search bar on both platforms.

On March 6, Netflix suspended operations in Russia due to the war in Ukraine. The company also warned about the cancellation of Russian accounts at the end of the billing period. It became impossible to renew the subscription.

Before that, the service stopped Russian film projects and refused to broadcast 20 Russian federal TV channels. Netflix was launched in the country in 2016.

Also earlier in Russia, Disney, Sony Pictures, WarnerMedia, Paramount and Universal suspended the distribution of their films.
