Ovsyannikova gets 30.000 ruble fine
 17 Mar 2022
The Ostankinsky District Court of Moscow on Tuesday fined Maria Ovsyannikova, an employee of Perviy (Channel One Russia), 30.000 rubles for violating the rules for holding a public event, RIA Novosti correspondent reports. She broke into a live broadcast of the Vremya program with a protest to the Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The material regarding Ovsyannikova was drawn up under Part 2 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Russia (“Organizing or holding a public event without notice”). As the lawyer said, law enforcement officers were interested in a video posted the day before, in which Ovsyannikova urges people to go to protests. She could still face legal charges for her break-in into a live broadcast.

Ovsyannikova herself stated at the court session that she did not plead guilty.
